The second kind of knowledge is what we would call knowledge by description. For example, we could say, “I’ve lived in Philadelphia for a long time, and I really know Philadelphia.” This means that if somebody asks us about Philadelphia, we can tell him or her about the city and explain how the streets run and where Independence Hall is located.
